A bit about me if you’ve recently followed my blog:
I graduated from Northeastern with a B.A. in Journalism this past May.
I proceeded to study abroad in London in July…took a documentary filmmaking course which was ahhhhmazing.
I currently hold not one, not two, but THREE part-time jobs. One of those is at Barnes & Noble which, for a journalism major, is like a kid working in a candy shop. BOOKS ARE THE BEST.
In my spare time, I search for a full time job in journalism.
jumbas asked: hi! i'm applying to northeastern this year and i'm hoping you could help me out with something; i'm interested in the journalism major but i also think that i could change my mind later and want to switch. do you think i list journalism as the major i intend to apply to on common app or should i pick the program for undeclared students and apply undeclared instead? i've heard that it can be harder to get in as undeclared, is that true? should i ask an admissions counselor? thanks in advance!
Hey there! I think if you have an interest in Journalism and your extracurriculars convey that, then it wouldn’t be a bad idea to apply as a J-major. Also, I think it’d be easier to do that, take some journalism classes and then decide from there. I can’t say if it’s harder to get in as undeclared or not since I genuinely don’t know the stats for that, but I know Northeastern admissions counselors do look for students who are passionate and eager to learn…
If you have any specific questions about the Dept. of Journalism at Northeastern to help you make a decision, let me know!
